Ball State University refunds tuition on a declining schedule after the semester starts, so timing a withdrawal matters.
The refund is based on the date a student contacts Cardinal Central to initiate withdrawal, not when the paperwork is finished, and is calculated on total fees charged rather than the amount actually paid. Ball State explicitly notes its own refund math is a separate calculation from the federal Title IV aid clawback, a family can see two different percentages apply at once. Students must vacate residence halls within 48 hours of withdrawing.
Refund schedule: for a standard 15 or 16 week term: 100% week 1, 80% week 2, 60% week 3, 50% week 4, 40% week 5, 30% week 6, 20% week 7, 10% week 8, 0% from week 9 onward.
