Before we get to residence halls, financial aid, or move-in logistics, there is something you need to understand about the University of South Carolina, and it has to do with the weather and the sound of 80,000 people.
Columbia, South Carolina is consistently one of the hottest cities in the United States in August and September. Temperatures regularly reach 95 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity pushes the heat index well above 105. Move-in day at UofSC is not a logistics challenge the way it might be at a school in New England or the Midwest. It is a physical endurance event. If you have a morning move-in window, protect it.
