The Vermillion campus location on the Missouri River bluffs is genuinely beautiful in a quiet, wide-open Great Plains way that is different from the scenery of the Rocky Mountain West or the Appalachian East but is authentic to the landscape of the northern plains.
The Missouri River flows approximately 2 miles south of the campus at the base of the bluffs, and the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area and the Missouri River recreation corridor provide outdoor access for hiking, fishing, and the river-bottom ecosystem that is characteristic of the Missouri River in eastern South Dakota.

The withdrawal date used for refund calculations is the date the student notifies the Registrar’s Office, not the date they stopped attending, and the same 60% cutoff also governs the separate federal Title IV financial aid return calculation.
