Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) in Pasco, Washington, approximately 45 miles northwest of Walla Walla via US-12, is served by Alaska and United from Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and Phoenix. PSC is the most convenient air gateway and provides straightforward connections from the West Coast hubs.
Spokane International Airport (GEG), approximately 75 miles north of Walla Walla via US-12 and US-195, is served by Alaska, United, Delta, Southwest, and American from a broader range of domestic markets and provides more comprehensive connections for families from eastern US and midwestern markets.
Portland International Airport (PDX) and Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA) are both approximately 3 to 4 hours by car via I-84 east or I-90 east respectively, and many families in the Pacific Northwest major cities drive to Walla Walla rather than using the regional airports.
No passenger train serves Walla Walla. Because Whitman counts by class days rather than fixed calendar dates, the same tier schedule repeats every semester regardless of start date, and a withdrawal after roughly day 26 (about five to six weeks in) forfeits the entire semester’s tuition with zero partial refund; federal Title IV aid is calculated separately, capped at 60% of the semester attended.
